Strength and Microstructure of a Clayey Soil Stabilized with Natural Stone Industry Waste and Lime or Cement

نویسندگان

چکیده

Industrial waste generated by the natural stone industry when working with limestone and dolostone is mainly composed of calcium carbonate magnesium carbonate. This mineral composition makes soil stabilization a potential use waste. However, much research must be carried out to fully understand aptitude this for improvement. In work, strength microstructure clayey stabilized using powder lime or cement were studied employing following techniques: unconfined compressive tests, mercury intrusion porosimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy. Moreover, effects an aggressive environment simulated sodium sulfate solution. Its investigated from 7 days 6 months. The results obtained show increase in more compact structure samples industrial Therefore, can used as ternary element stabilization.

The Effect of Rice Husk Ash on Mechanical Properties of Clayey Soils Stabilized with Lime in the Presence of Sulphate

Geotechnical engineers, in many cases face with low strength or high swelling potential of clayey soils. Stabilization methods are used to improve the mechanical properties of this type of soils. Lime and cement are the most popular materials used in chemical stabilization of clayey soils. If sulphate exists in the stabilized clayey soil with lime, or if soil is exposed to sulphates, problems s...

Numerical and physical modeling of soft soil slope stabilized with stone columns

There can be many reasons for engineers to place the footings near a slope such as leakage of suitable sites or architectural considerations. One of the approaches to increase the amount of bearing capacity, especially in soft soils, is adding stone columns to the soil. In this research, the behavior of a strip footing placed near a stone column reinforced clayey slope was investigated. For thi...

Mechanical Properties of Low Plasticity Clay Soil Stabilized with Iron Ore Mine Tailing and Portland Cement

Due to economical and environmental issues, utilization of mineral wastes, e.g. iron ore mine tailing (IOMT), as road materials can be recommended as a sustainable alternative. In the present study, mechanical properties, as well as resistance to freezing and thawing cycles (F-T) of low plasticity clay soil stabilized with different percentages of Portland cement (0, 6, 9, 12 and 15%) and diffe...
